This studio explores intersections of ethnobotany, technology, and design. In collaboration with the Kamehameha Schools Maui Aina team we will discuss issues relating to agriculture, resources, and food sovereignty. In the introductory project, Cyborg Botany, haumana will learn electronic basics and prototype responsive devices for plant clients. The research gathered in Cyborg Botany will inform the second project, Foodscapes, where haumana will have the opportunity to design and build a site specific installation on campus that activates conversations around people and the future of the food.
